Adam Valadao got a late consolation goal but it was not enough as the North York Rangers fell 5-1 in Game 2 to the Toronto Patriots Friday night.
Jason Pucciarelli and Gianluca Baggetta split 44 shots between them.
Christian Zanetti and Phillip Chadder both picked up assists on Valadao’s back-door tap-in at 2:48 of the third period, with both rookies recording their first career playoff points as a result.
The tally was Valadao’s third of the post-season.
Jacob Hayhurst had two goals, while Nathan Feric, Tyler Currie and Doug Bonar had the others for the Patriots who went up 2-0 in the series with the victory.
The four-goal defeat was the club’s worst playoff loss since a 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens on Feb. 14, 2012.
North York now faces a crucial Game 3 at Westwood Arena on Saturday night, puck drops at 7:30.
