North York Rangers forward Nick Campoli has been named to Team Canada East Selection Camp ahead of the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge.
Campoli, 17, notched two assists points in his first game of the season back from injury this past Sunday, and scored 15 goals and added 27 assissts in 47 regular and post-season contests in his rookie season last year.
An Etobicoke-native, Campoli joined the Rangers out of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens minor midgets for the 2015-16 season, and has recently committed to play Division I NCAA hockey for Clarkson University for the 2017-18 campaign.
Campoli was also named to the NHL Central Scouting Service’s Future Watch List for the 2017 NHL Draft last week, counting himself among six Ontario Junior Hockey Leaguers to be so named.
Team Canada East Selection Camp runs from Dec. 3 to 7 at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke, ONT., with the squad to represent Canada East at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge from Dec. 11 to 17 in Bonnyville, Alberta.
The last North York Ranger to represent Canada at the event was current Dartmouth College forward Corey Kalk, who did so at the 2013 event.
