The North York Rangers have acquired defenceman Jack Lyons from the Milton Icehawks, the club announced Thursday.
Lyons, 17, has 12 points and 126 penalty minutes in 76 career Ontario Junior Hockey League contests split between the Toronto Patriots and the Icehawks.
A Mississauga native, Lyons switched from his hometown Rebels the Toronto Jr. Canadiens for his minor midget year and the move paid off, as the 6-foot-2, 200-pounder earned himself an 11th-round selection by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2015 Ontario Hockey League draft after scoring 15 points in 27 games with JRC.
Lyons recorded two points in six OHL Cup games with the Jr. Canadiens in 2015.
Jack is another player brought in to play with a physical edge, joining the likes of Ethan Wiseman, and his former teammate Noah Robinson in that category.
